Our summary for some readings about Mexico we did in class:

México sin sentido

Mexicans don’t have any interest for the social wealth, and all the solutions are based in faith.

Laberinto de la Soledad

Machismo, loneliness, social classes, fake independence. In this reading the mother's roll is the most important, it is described as the pillar of the family, the strongest. Corrupt heroes which only looked for the change for their own benefit are present too.

Raza cosmica

Is about the narcissism, intolerance, and the segregation of mostly Mexicans.

Vecinos distantes

Love, kind, religiousCorrupt, non self-understanding. The writer describes a Mexican's life from his point of view.

La Región Más Transparente

The text is about a novel written by the mexican author Carlos Fuentes, who describes about the different sociocultural problems that Mexico has had and still to this date does. The novel expresses a bizarre scenario where different traditional Mexican characters force themselves to peek at the present (which takes place in 1951) and realize how distinct it is from the world they use to know, they too, force themselves to compare both worlds: old vs. new Mexico. How could all this progress has been accomplished with European beliefs?

Instrucciones para vivir en México

Is about a daily life in México, showing the laziness, the need of money, the corruption, the bad nutrition... Everything that makes a Mexican a "Mexican".

Mañana pasado

Doing things half way, avoid the law, fear to foregein treats, avoiding conflict, laziness, using the government as an excusefor breaking the law.
